Abstract In recent decades, cellular automata (CA) have become popular for evaluating and forecasting urban transformation over time space, especially in rapidly developing countries. These models enhance the understanding of dynamics complex interplay between land-use changes sustainability. CA help governments, planners, stakeholders to predict evaluate potential outcomes future policy alternatives before making decisions. Thus, are frequently used create what-if scenarios implementation. This chapter includes an overview basic state-of-the-art concepts methods modeling, as well latest studies, applications, current problems.
